Jazz Improvisation Workshops

                                               

 

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: These workshops commenced in 2002 and are not for profit operations. They are run by a registered business, Reg No. B18965215 and are under the control of Marina Pollard.

 

LOCATION:  They are held at the VJA ( 15 Mountain Highway, Wantirna ) on Saturday afternoons from 1:00 till 4:00pm.

 

DURATION: The workshops run for 12 weeks plus group practise sessions and a final break up presentation.

 

TUTORS: Two principal tutors are engaged at professional rate, and several other musicians donate their time and enthusiasm for specific sessions.

 

JUNIOR WORKSHOP: (Under 25) In order to reduce the fee charged, this workshop is subsidised by the Australian Jazz Convention Trustees, the Geelong Jazz Club, The Peninsular Jazz Club, the Victorian Jazz Club & private donors.

Costs:  $45 for 12 weeks plus $15 for VJA student membership.

When:  Next workshop commences 20th March, 2011

 

SENIOR WORKSHOP: Attendees are required to become full members of the Archive and enjoy all the privileges.

Costs:  $144 for 12 weeks plus $30 for full VJA membership.

When:  Next workshop commences Saturday, July 10, 2010.

 

FACILITIES: The archive provides the amenity, including use of piano, keyboard, drum kit, music stands, photo-copying and access to the reference library and record collection at no charge, while dedicated volunteers provide refreshments.

All music provided, just bring yourself and your instrument.

                              

PREREQUISITES: Applicants are required to be proficient with their instruments, able to to play scales and arpeggios and be interested in learning to improvise.
